§ VII — If a day gets heavy

You are not alone
in the room.

Reaching out is not a reset and it is not a failure. You do not have to be in a program, and you do not have to have the words ready.

Talk to someone now

The lines below answer at any hour, cost nothing, and let you stay anonymous.

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — free and confidential, 24/7. Call or text 988.
  • SAMHSA National Helpline — free, confidential treatment referral and information for alcohol and drugs, 24/7, in English and Spanish. Call 1-800-662-4357.

In an emergency

If you or someone near you may be in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number now.

Heavy daily drinking can make stopping suddenly dangerous. Shaking, sweating, confusion or a seizure are medical emergencies. Talk to a doctor before quitting cold, and get help immediately if any of those appear.

Trouble with the app itself

Write to [email protected]. A person reads every one. If you bought Day One and want the money back inside thirty days, say so in one line and it comes back — no reasons needed.

These lines are in the United States. If you are somewhere else, your local emergency number and national health service can point you to the nearest help. Day One is a private counter, not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
